In the evening hours on Saturday 2 March 2013, Dr.
Tahseen Al Astal, vice chairman of the Palestinian journalists’ Syndicate was summoned by the Public Prosecution in Khan Younis in order to present himself at its interrogation office on the ground of an article he wrote in which he criticized police behavior.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, Al Astal stated that in the morning of Sunday 3 March 2013, he presented himself at the public prosecution building in Khan Younis.
He was interrogated about an article entitled “Police against the Law”.
The article is about an incident that took place a month ago in Khan Younis.
He was informed that the police investigation department filed a defamation complaint against him.
The public prosecutor informed Al Astal that it will examine the complaint.
He was interrogated for about two hours and released on unpaid bail of 5,000 ILS to ensure that he turns up at the public prosecution building when summoned again.
