At approximately 11:40 am on Tuesday 8 January 2012, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) informed Palestinian Civil Affairs Cooperation Office its intent to close Erez crossing in protest against the presence of a number of Palestinian rubble collectors near the crossing gate.
The Palestinian police and employees intervened and asked the rubble collectors to stay away from the gate.
At approximately 1:20 pm on the same day, the IOF opened the crossing and work was resumed.
