At approximately 10:00 am on Thursday 10 May 2012, Hatem Yousif Abu Maghaseeb, 34, was shot in the legs.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, Abu Maghaseeb stated that while he was waiting in Deir Al Balah for passengers going to the village of Wadi As-Salqa, checking the oil in his car’s engine, he suddenly heard gunfire.
He saw a man on a motorcycle passing and then he fell to the ground.
One of the taxi drivers who was there with him called an ambulance, which took him to Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al Balah.
The doctors informed him that he had suffered bullet wounds in the left thigh (entry) and right thigh (entry and exit).
He stayed in the hospital for two days to undergo surgery.
Abu Maghaseeb states that the motive for the attack is a family feud between his brother Osama, 22, and the person who shot him.
The police have opened an investigation into the incident.
