Internal Security Apparatus Detains Nine Officials of Agricultural Associations in North Gaza District

At approximately 6:30 pm on Monday 2 April 2012, the Internal Security Apparatus detained nine officials of agricultural associations in North Gaza district.
  The detentions were arbitrary and were carried out without prior summonses.
  Al Mezan has identified the detainees as follows:   ·         Ghassan Qasem, chairman of the board of directors of the Agricultural Cooperative Association; ·         Mahmoud Saleh Ikhlaiel, chairman of the board of directors of the Flower Cultivators Association; ·         Khalid Abu Halima, from the Flower Cultivators Association; ·         Jameel Mohammed Abu Hmeida, chairman of the board of directors of the Charitable Livestock Breeders Association and vice-director of the Gaza Cooperative Association; ·         Ibrahim Mattar, secretary general of the Gaza Cooperative Association; ·         Ihab Mohammed Abdel ‘Aziz, an engineer at the Agricultural Relief Association; ·         Mohammed Saber Ghabin, director of the Beit Lahiya Association for Strawberry and Vegetable Cultivators; ·         Samir Al Attar, from the Beit Lahiya Association for Strawberry and Vegetables Cultivators; and ·         Munzir Al Badri, a farmer.
  In the early morning hours the following day, a force from the Apparatus searched the houses of the detainees and confiscated personal documents and properties from some of them.
  The reasons for the detentions remain unknown.
