At approximately 2:35 pm on Tuesday 6 March 2012, civil defense teams collected seven persons who were injured due to leakage of pesticide gas inside a tunnel on the Gaza-Egypt border in the Yebna area south of Rafah.
The vice-director of civil defense in Rafah, Ali At-Tanttawi, was also injured during the evacuation of the victims.
Al Mezan has identified the seven injured in the initial accident as follows:
· Omar Hamed Naser, 24;
· Mohammed Mahmoud Zu’rub, 35;
· Alaa’ Talal Fayyad, 22;
· Abdel Salam Mohammed Al Ghalban, 35;
· Zaki Burhum Breka, 29;
· Usama Jumaa’ Ash-Sha’er, 27; and
· Samer Tawfeq Abu Lebda, 29.
All were admitted to Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital, where their injuries were described as moderate.
