At approximately 7:00p.
m.
on Saturday 9 July 2011, Israeli occupation force (IOF) opened fired at Tammam Abu Salah HammadAbu Mtteir, 30, as she approached the separation fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel in the area located west of As-Sayafa, along the sea, northwest of Beit Lahiya.
As a result, Abu Mtteir sustained a bullet wound in her right leg, causing a fracture.
Medical sources at Shifa Hospital, described her injury as moderate.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) was informed of the incident at approximately 8:30p.
m.
The PRCS arrived at the scene an hour later, after completing the necessary coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The medical team was forced to walk about 400 meters until they reached the area where Abu Mtteir was injured.
They found her a few meters away from the separation fence.
She was admitted to Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
Abu Mtteir is a resident of Al Shatiaa’ refugee camp.
She had left her house at 4:00 p.
m.
on the same day and lost her way.
