At approximately 2:30am on Thursday 12 May 2011, medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital in Rafah announced the death of Hassan Ibrahim Al Sha'ir, 17, due to an electric shock. Al Sha'ir was working inside a tunnel near the Salah Ad-Din gate area on the Gaza-Egypt border when he was electrified.
