At approximately 11am on Wednesday, 9 March 2011, members of the police investigation unit banned a group from the '5 June', activists from the Youth Movements to End the Palestinian Internal Split, from hanging Palestinian flags in the main streets of Jabalia Refugee Camp.
The police detained nine of the activists at the police station in Jabalia Refugee Camp.
According to the police, the reason for their detention was because they did not obtain prior permission from the police.
Mohammed Al Khaldi, the Coordinator of the Youth Movement, said that they formally told the Ministry of Interior about their activity a day before.
Al Khaldi said that the police showed them respect and no one was subject to torture.
The police released all the detainees after an intervention by Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.
The detainees were released at 12:15pm on the same day without signing any declarations.
Al Mezan identified the names of the detainees as follows:
· Mohammed Khader Abdel Hadi Al Khaldi, 40;
· Haitham Ahmed Hasan Abu Naser, 38;
· Mohammed Samir Mohammed Qarmout, 27;
· Abdel Rahaman Akram Al Majdalawi, 26;
· Kamal Hussein Abdel Hadi Hussein, 25;
· Mohammed Najeeb Al Majdalawi, 23;
· 'Ahed Mohammed Qarmout, 22;
· Ahmed Ramadan Subuh, 20; and
· Mohammed Nser Al Mabhouh, 23.
