13 December 2010
Short Link:
At approximately 10am on Monday 13 December 2010, the internal security apparatus in Gaza summoned Mrs.
Amal Hamad, member of Fatah Revolutionary Council and Coordinator of the secretariat-general for the General Union of Palestinian Women (GUPW), to its office in Jabalia refugee camp.
At approximately 12:20pm on the same day they released her.
Earlier on Sunday 12 December 2010, the internal security prevented Mrs.
Hamad from travel via the Rafah crossing as she was on her way to join the delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) at the World Youth Conference.
It is believed that this summons is related to the prevention of Mrs.
Hamad from travel.
In her affidavit to Al Mezan, Mrs.
Hamad said that she was interviewed by the officer in-charge of the internal security apparatus in North Gaza district, who questioned her about her travel.
He reiterated to her that she was ‘prevented from travel according to a political decision’.
He also told her that in case she was able to travel, she would not be allowed to re-enter the Gaza Strip.
She added that he interrogated her about her activities in the GUPW.
He also told her that the GUPW was not allowed to carry out any activity in the Gaza Strip.
