At approximately 7:30am on Thursday 9 December 2010, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at a group of Palestinian civilians as they were collecting scrap and rubble from the destroyed structures near the border fence between Gaza and Israel.
The group was few meters from the border fence near the Burat Abu Samra area north of Beit Lahiya, in the North Gaza district when IOF fired at them.
As a result, two brother, Sultan and Ahmed Sa'ad Ismail Ghabin (29 and 20 respectively), who are residents of Beit Lahiya, were injured in their right legs.
Medical sources at Kamal Odwan Hospital described Sultan's injury as moderate.
Ahmed's injury was described as critical.
The bullet caused fracture to Ahmed's leg.
