Short Link:
At approximately 1pm on Thursday 25 November 2010, representatives of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Gaza appeared at the General Union of Cultural Centers Office, named Mohtaraf Shababik in Arabic, which is located near the Ansar military compound, west of Gaza City.
They informed the volunteers who were at the office that the MoI had issued a decision to close the office because it did not have the necessary licenses.
The MoI representatives also asked the volunteers to hand the keys to the office and to sign a declaration not to open the office or any other offices of the General Union of the Cultural offices before obtaining a license from the MoI.
The volunteers refused to turn the keys in and they went to the street to protest against this decision.
