Short Link:
At approximately 10:30am on Monday 11 October 2010, five persons appeared at the Agricultural Engineers Society (AES) office and introduced themselves as representatives of the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
They informed Mr.
Mohammed Munther Ar- Rayis, the chairman of the AES Board, that the Board was dissolved and a new five-member committee headed by Mr.
Muneer Serdah would run the society.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, Mr.
Ar-Rayis said that in 2006 the MoI issued a decision dissolving the society; however, the society appealed to the High Court (case no.
154/2006).
He added that he refused to hand in the office keys as the law allows the society to continue its work normally until the case is settled.
An hour and a half after the visit by the five persons, the police came to the office, confiscated the keys from the guard, and shut down the society office.
The new Board comprises of new members who were not on Board before.
