1pm on Saturday 14 August 2010, persons dressed in civilian clothes approached the office of the Refugees Popular Committee, which is located at the Zu'rub building in Rafah, and identified themselves as from the internal security apparatus.
They informed the persons who were in the office that the office was closed and ordered them to leave.
They also confiscated a computer and some other belongings from the office.
According to Zyiad As-Sarafandi, the chairman of the Refugee Popular Committee in Rafah, the Committee was handing certificates of honor and financial rewards for students at the UNRWA primary and preparatory schools who showed excellence in the previous school year.
On 8 August 2010, the Gaza Government's internal security apparatus banned an honoring ceremony for students at the UNRWA primary and preparatory schools.
This event had been organized by the Refugees Popular Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.
The event was scheduled to be held at the Rafah Service Club.
