8:30am on Wednesday 22 July 2009, the IOF arrested 22-year-old Mahmoud Kamel As-Sarsak, who plays for the Khadamat Rafah football club and the Palestinian national team.
Sarsak was on his way out of Gaza to join the Balata Youth team in Nablus, West Bank.
Al Mezan Center also knew that two other players who were with Sarsak to join the same team were returned from Erez by the IOF.
They are Ibrahim Al-Amour and Haytham Al-Shareef.
The three players went to Erez after the Palestinian Football Federation coordinated for them with the IOF to leave Gaza via Erez.
According to a statement Al Mezan took from Sarsak's brother, he received a phone call on his mobile on Wednesday evening in which a person speaking for the Israeli army informed him that his brother was arrested and being held at Ashkelon Prison.
