On Tuesday, 2 September 2008, at approximately 5:30am, Israeli gunboats, positioned in mid-sea, opened fire on the Palestinian fishing boats opposite to Beit Lahia shore.
It forced two fishing boats to approach a gunship and detained 6 fishermen, who were on board.
Four children were released and two were arrested: Adnan Ashur al-Sultan, 45, and Muhammad Abdelbari al-Sultan, 19.
The IOF forced the two boats by fire to come closer towards a gunboat and detained the two fishermen and confiscated their boats.
It released the four children, who swam towards their relatives' fishing boats that happened to be close.
It is noteworthy that the IOF recently continued to target fishermen opposite to Beit Lahia shore.
It opens fire, launches artillery shells, detains or arrests fishermen for hours or confiscates fishing boats, in unjustified, escalating procedures in northern Gaza.
