Short Link:
On Tuesday morning, 12 October 2021, a 39-year-old man was admitted to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City with multiple fractures, after falling from a considerable height while allegedly attempting to evade the police. The hospital’s personnel described his injuries as moderate.
According to available information, in the early hours of the morning, police officers arrived at the man’s apartment in Al-Malash Tower in Al-Nasser neighborhood, Gaza City, to execute an arrest warrant issued against the man for debt-related issues. When the officers entered the house, the man climbed out of a window and fell from the building. As a result, he sustained fractures to his spine, pelvis, and hip.
Al Mezan has attempted to contact the spokesperson of Gaza’s Ministry of Interior for an official account of the incident, but to no avail. The Ministry also has not yet made an official statement.
Accordingly, the Office of the Public Prosecutor must fully and promptly investigate the incident and the circumstances leading to the man’s fall, including compliance with arrest procedures by the police officers involved.
