The Occupation Forces Arrest the Lawyer Dawud Darawi.
On Monday 10/9/2001 the Israeli occupation forces arrested the lawyer Dawud Darawi on his return after visiting his family in Jordan.
He was transferred to the central investigation department in Ashqelon Prison.
It is worth mentioning that the lawyer Dawud Darawi, 27, from Bethlehem, works as a lawyer for the Palestinian Independent Commission for Citizens’ Rights and is in charge of the folder on the Israeli violations of the Palestinian citizens’ rights.
This arrest is part of an attack launched by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian human rights activists.
This is similar to the arrest of Al Mezan Center’s lawyer Mr Adnan al-Hajjar on April when he was crossing Rafah border on his return to the Gaza Strip for work reasons.
Al Mezan Center would like to express its serious worry that the lawyer Darawi is being exposed to torture and demands his immediate release and stopping human rights workers from this exposure.
It also demands all the concerned parties to intervene immediately to protect all human rights activists especially during the current difficult circumstances which are occurring in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
