At around 7:40 pm on Wednesday 31 July 2013, four armed men broke into the headquarters of Al Awdaa Factories Co.
for the production of biscuits and ice-cream, which is located in Deir Al-Balah area – the industrial area, the main road Salah Ad-Deen.
In their affidavits to Al Mezan, the Al Telbani family members stated that the armed men tried to tie the guard of the company who was on the ground floor, and beat him in order to break into the apartment of the owner of the company Mohammed Elian Attiya Telbani, 61, which is adjacent to the factory from the east ward.
The incident coincided with the time of having Ramadan breakfast.
The resistance of the guard while tying him made a ciaos in the place alerted the owner of the factory.
When the owner tried to clarify what was going on, he saw these armed men getting to the stairs of second floor where he lives.
So he closed the door of the apartment and the armed asked him to bring the car keys that he owns but he refused and asked them to leave.
They broke into the apartment were the shooting started between them, wounded the son of the owner of the factory, Eliyan Mohammed Al Telbani, 26, in his head.
His death was announced at the Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah, and where the owner of the factory was injured too by shrapnel in the left ear and the left hand.
A police force reached and surrounded the place and arrested the armed men, and opened an investigation into the incident.
The Ministry of Interior commented on the incident on its website that the robbery targeted Al Awdaa Factory before the prayer was in order to steal the money treasury and these accused were armed with guns and they were covering their faces.
