The explosion took place about 100 meters to the east of the Deir Al Balah Municipality and Police Station.
In its affidavit to Al Mezan, the criminal investigations unit of the police reported that it had opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators.
The police asserted that incidents of this kind aim to create an atmosphere of instability and added that similar incidents had taken place many times during previous Ramadans.
