At approximately 2:45am on Friday 18 February 2011, unknown persons detonated an explosive device near the door of the house of Fawzi Mohammed Hasan Eid, a 51 nurse.
The two-story house is located in Block (1) in An-Nuseirat refugee camp and hosts nine persons; four of them are children.
The explosion destroyed the house doors, windows and some furniture.
The owner of the house fainted due to heavy smoke which rose as a result of the explosion.
Seven adjacent houses were also partially damaged in the explosion.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, Fawzi said that he was sleeping in the second floor of the house and was awakened at around 2:45am on the sound of the explosion.
He saw the house windowpanes were smashed and black smoke was in the staircase.
He started to shout asking help from neighbors, then he fell unconscious.
Fawzi's wife, Itaf, 43, said she also woke up because of the sound of the explosion and went down the stairs to see the house's door broken.
The area was filled with black smoke.
She said the police arrived at the house and their explosives unit collected samples and the remaining of the explosive device.
Later she knew that the police found an electric wire about 205 meters, which was connected between the explosive device and the alleys behind their house.
The police questioned her son, Mohammed, 19, and asked him to present himself at the police station on the next day for the investigation.
According to the neighbors, the electricity was cut off before the explosion, then it returned after it.
