An Explosion in Rafah; One Child Injured

6am on  Sunday 6 June 2010, medical sources announced the injury of a child, Mohammed Saber Dehleez, 15.
The injuries led to amputation of limbs.
The child was injured from the explosion of an unknown object, which is believed to be an unexploded ordnance (UXO) left by Israeli aerial bombardment of the area during operation cast lead (OCL).
The explosion occurred when the child was digging in the ground in the former settlement of Atzmona in Rafah, apparently to dig out gravel.
The child was referred to An-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, then referred to the Gaza European Hospital, where he has been undergoing urgent surgeries due to his critical injuries.
