Al Mezan condemns the IOF's assault on journalist Majdi Al Arabeed

In a new assault on Palestinian media personnel, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire towards a group of Palestinian journalists who were covering an IOF incursion in north Gaza.
The attack took place at approximately 3:35pm on 2 January 2005, in Qleebo neighborhood in Beit Lahia town which was undergoing a military incursion.
Eyewitnesses reported to the Center that the IOF opened machinegun fire towards the journalists and injured Majdi Al Arabeed critically.
He was soon referred to a hospital inside Israel due to his serious condition.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns the IOF's continued targeting of Palestinian journalists, and the obstruction of their right to access information and to freedom of expression.
The Center calls on the international community to ensure proper protection of Palestinian civilians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and for journalists covering the news inside the OPT, in compliance with international law.
