The office the Union of Palestinian Women's Committees of Gaza City was broken into and some of its belongings were stolen.
The Union is located in the fifth floor of the Abu Al Auf family building near the Shifa Hospital in Gaza city.
At approximately 8am on Wednesday 17 March 2010,when the Union staff members went to open the office they were surprised to find that items from the office had been stolen.
According to information collected by Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights, at approximately 8am on Wednesday 17 March 2010, the staff of the Union of Palestinian Women's Committees found that the database computer, the director's laptop, a digital camera, a cell phone belonging to the cleaning women at the Union, and a sum of 160 NIS had been taken.
One of the staff directly phoned the director and the manager of the Union.
Both of them reached the scene of the incident and examined the place and wrote a report.
Then the police arrived and started their investigations.
According to Al Mezan's field worker, there was no damage to the door of the office, suggesting a forced entry.
This raises doubts that the perpetrators were common robbers and the act was not a common robbery.
This brings to the minds previous assaults against other nongovernmental organization.
