Gaza, 20 March 2025 – On day 530 of Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, following a unilateral resumption of a full-scale military operation after nearly two months of ceasefire, Israeli forces continue to commit atrocities, killing and injuring hundreds of Palestinians. Their renewed attacks—carried out by air, land, and sea—have spared no one, deliberately targeting homes, tents, and shelters housing displaced people. Yesterday, 19 March, Israeli forces struck the UN headquarters in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
According to field reports, at approximately noon on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, Israeli forces fired at least one missile at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) guesthouse in the Al-Berka area of Deir al-Balah. The attack killed one UN staff member and injured five others. Medical sources in Gaza confirmed that two of the wounded sustained lower limb amputations.
Beyond this attack, Israeli forces continued to target Palestinian civilians across Gaza, carrying out mass killings by deliberately bombing densely populated homes, tents, and shelters. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, in just two days—18 and 19 March 2025—Israeli attacks killed 436 Palestinians, including 183 children and 94 women, and wounded 678 others. These latest attacks have brought the total number of Palestinians killed in Israel's genocide in Gaza to 49,547, with 112,719 injured.
Since 2 March 2025, Israel has kept all Gaza’s crossings closed, blocking the entry of humanitarian aid and using starvation as a weapon of war. Severe shortages of food and essential supplies have deepened the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, with growing signs of starvation and hunger becoming increasingly evident among the population. Additionally, Israel has also barred the entry of vital medical supplies, further crippling Gaza's already devastated healthcare system. Hospitals pushed to the brink of collapse after 15 months of relentless Israeli attacks on medical infrastructure, are now unable to accommodate the influx of wounded civilians. With fuel shortages rendering ambulances inoperative, many injured are being transported to hospitals on animal-drawn carts.
Since resuming its military operations in Gaza on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, Israel has reinstated its policy of mass forced displacement, once again issuing displacement orders—particularly targeting residents of northern and eastern Gaza—directing them toward coastal areas. On Wednesday, 19 March 2025, the Israeli military announced the expansion of ground operations, while Israeli military vehicles were seen advanced through the Netzarim corridor along Salah al-Din Road, effectively cutting off the main route between northern and southern Gaza. At the same time, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared, "Soon, the evacuation of the population from combat zones will resume," reviving fears of another large-scale Israeli effort to depopulate northern Gaza through massacres, starvation, and forced displacement.
Al Mezan condemns in the strongest terms Israel's renewed large-scale military attacks on Palestinian civilians, whose victims are primarily children, women, and the elderly. The growing trend of targeting humanitarian workers, bombing relief institutions, intimidating aid personnel, and blocking humanitarian aid is a deliberate effort to undermine relief operations, inflict severe harm on civilians, and make living conditions for the population unbearable—all under the watchful eye of the international community.
Al Mezan reiterates its urgent appeal to the international community to take immediate action to stop Israel's ongoing genocide and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians and humanitarian workers. Statements of condemnation alone are not enough —concrete, immediate steps must be taken to pressure Israel to comply with international law, end its genocidal acts and policy of collective punishment, lift the closure and blockade, and allow the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
