At 11am on Saturday, 28 April 2018, doctors at Abu Yousef Al Najjar Hospital in Rafah announced the injury of Mohammed Breeka, 14-year old resident of west Rafah, who was hit by shrapnel in both legs. According to field documentation, Mohammed had found a suspicious object near the Palestinian-Egyptian borders, and he hit it to the wall, which led to an explosion. His uncle took him to the hospital after seeing blood over his legs.
