On Friday, 20 April 2018, thousands of Palestinian children, youth and men moved from different areas of Khan Younis governorate to join the “Great Return March” demonstration organized to the east of Khuzaa town in eastern Khan Younis. Protesters joined the demonstration to demand their right to return to their homes from which they were expelled in 1948 and 1967. Held at about 300 meters away from the separation fence, protesters held Palestinian flags. Israeli forces located on the eastern borders opened fire and launched tear-gas grenades at protesters. Sa’ad Abu Taha, 29, was fatally wounded in the neck by a live bullet while he was about 100 meters away from the fence. Israeli shooting, which continued until the evening of the same day, resulted in the injury of 64 protesters, including six children and two women. Wounded protesters were ambulanced to three hospitals to receive medical treatment: Naser, European Gaza, and Algerian hospitals in Khan Younis.
