At approximately 12:30 pm on Friday, 23 December 2016, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire and launched tear gas at a non-violent weekly demonstration. The demonstration, launched in solidarity with the Palestinians being targeted and oppressed in East Jerusalem and the broader West Bank, was comprised of tens of people gathered eastern Gaza, near the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel. As a result, one person sustained a bullet wound in his feet, and medical sources described his injury as minor. Israeli shooting continued until 4:30 on the same day.
