The security apparatus prevented an event for Fatah movement to commemorate the late president Yasser Arafat, which was supposed to be held at approximately 3:00 pm on Friday, 11 November 2016 at Al Shalehat resort western Gaza city. According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, member of the Legislative Council Na’ema Al Sheikh Ali, submitted a written notification holding the names of Fatah movement deputies in Gaza, to the Ministry of Interior, in order to get a permission to organize the event. The Ministry of Interior approved by a written notification on 6 November 2016. So, the organizers started the preparations for the event. ON 10 November 2016, the organizers were surprised by a phone call from the Ministry of Interior ordering them to cancel the event.
