Al Mezan Organizes Training for University Graduates in Rafah City

On Tuesday, 29 March 2016, Al Mezan Center for Human Rights (Al Mezan) in collaboration with the Visions Association for Civil Society (VACS) launched a training course for 27 male and female university graduates in Rafah city, entitled: “Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law”.

Mr. Khalid Al-Kurdi, Director of the VACS, welcomed the participants and thanked Al Mezan for collaborating with the VACS in organizing this course which aims to train volunteers and raise their awareness of human rights. Mr. Yahya Mohareb, Al Mezan’s lawyer, said that this particular course is organized in the context of Al Mezan’s core program which aims to promote human rights and International Humanitarian Law, particularly among the youth in the hope that they will pass this knowledge to their peers. Mr. Mohreb thanked the VACS for showing interest in building capacities of their volunteers and for their ongoing collaboration with Al Mezan. He also thanked the participants for showing interest in this course and hoped that they will use the newly acquired knowledge to promote human rights and demands their implementation from the competent authorities.

The training course consists of 15 training hours to be delivered over a period of two days during which the participants will be introduced to the International Human Rights Law; the International Humanitarian Law; mechanisms of monitoring and documenting human rights violations; and the importance of elections and mechanisms of election monitoring.
