At approximately 1:00 pm on Sunday, 13 September 2015, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) closed Erez crossing for travellers due to Jewish holidays. The IOF opened it for vehicles only for one hour, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, while it usually works until 7:00 pm.
The closure of Erez prevented many people; including Palestinian patients, businessmen as well as international journalists, staff of international organizations, and diplomats from leaving or entering Gaza.
The crossing was partially opened for humanitarian needs on Monday and Tuesday and Tuesday 14 and 15 September 2015.
