After numerous complaints regarding the environmental situation and sanitation services from people in Jabalia, Al Mezan held a meeting to address this issue –of special importance since it has to do with public health.
After the meeting, substantial improvements took place in the refugee camp.

Abdul-Karim Juda, Head of the Environmental Health Department in the UNRWA.
Summary of issues raised by the public The participants raised the following points: Sanitation services in Jabaliya are very bad, especially in the Refugee Camp.
There must be better cooperation between the Municipality and UNRWA in order to solve the problem completely.
Garbage collection must take place regularly and efficiently.
The Jabalia Municipality should take more effective steps to prevent damage being done to the environment.
The Municipality should take legal action against those causing harm to the environment.
Summary of answers given by the guest speakers
The two guests spoke about the services the Municipality provides in the area including running water, a sewage system, collection and transferal of garbage, and road pavement.
They talked about the obstacles they face on the ground, especially those related to funds.
They stressed that there are many projects that have been temporarily frozen.

The UNRWA representative said that people would notice concrete improvements soon.
They said that they need to communicate and cooperate more than before to guarantee integration and better performance.

The Municipality is ready to receive people's complaints and look into them seriously, but citizens must also cooperate with municipality workers.
