Al Mezan Center for Human Rights represented by its director, board of directors, general administration and staff, congratulatesMr.
Rajji Sourani, director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), for winning Right Livelihood Award that is known as “Alternative Nobel Prize”.
This Award is granted to persons who have inspiring works in such fields as environmental protection, human rights, sustainable development, health, education, and peace.
Mr.
Rajji Sourani is the first Palestinian who wins this award.
The award is granted to him in recognition of his efforts to support human right and the rule of law under severe human right circumstances in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
Al Mezan expresses its happiness for Mr.
Sourani and views the award as recognition of his efforts as well as efforts of PCHR and other human rights organizations.
Al Mezan asserts that the prize has a great spiritual meaning as it attracts the attention of the world public opinions to human rights violation committed in the oPt.
The award is considered as a motivation for more defending human rights and ensuring the respect of international humanitarian law principles, disclosing Israeli violations of human rights, and achieving justice.
