On Monday 29 September 2013, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights organized a training course entitled “Women and Children in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (IHL)”, held at Al Mezan’s office in Jabaliya.
About 20 representatives of 15 grass roots organizations participated in the course.
Hussein Hammad, Al Mezan’s field worker in North Gaza district, opened the course by welcoming the participants.
He thanked the participating organizations for their continuous cooperation with Al Mezan which contributed in making the course success.
He hoped the participants would pass the newly acquired knowledge to their colleagues.
The course consists of 15 training hours to be delivered over three days.
Participants are to be introduced to human rights, International Bill of Human Rights, IHL and its principles, mechanisms of women and children protection in armed conflict, and the 1612 Monitoring and Reporting Mechanisms concerning the violations of child rights in situations of armed conflict.
