On Sunday 29 September 2013, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights organized a training course entitled Mechanisms for Monitoring and Documenting Violations of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law,” held at Carenos restaurant in Gaza City.
About 32 workers at 25 grassroots organizations participated in the course.
Mrs.
Shirin Shobaki, Coordinator of Training and Mass Communication Unit atAl Mezan, opened the course by welcoming the participants.
She thanked the participating organizations for their continuous cooperation with Al Mezan which contributed in making the course success.
She hoped the participants would pass the newly acquired knowledge to their colleagues.
The course consists of 30 training hours to be delivered over five days.
Participants are to be introduced to human rights, International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights; Convention on the Rights of Child, Convention on the women’s Rights; mechanisms of women and children protection in armed conflict, and the 1612 Monitoring and Reporting Mechanisms concerning the violations of child rights in situations of armed conflict.
This course is part of Al Mezan’s core program activities that aim to enhance and disseminate human rights and IHL culture and mechanisms of monitoring and documentation of violations of human rights.
