On Monday 23 September 2013, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights organized a training workshop on “Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and Protection Mechanisms”, held at Laterna restaurant in Gaza city.
Representatives of 18 grass roots organizations attended the course.
Mrs.
Shirin Al Shobaki, Coordinator of the Training and Mass Communication Unit at Al Mezan, opened the course by thanking the organizations for their continuous and effective cooperation.
She hoped that the participants will pass the newly acquired knowledge to their colleagues.
The course consists of 24 training hours to be delivered over four days.
Participants are to be introduced to human rights law; the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural rights; Geneva Convention, Convention on the Rights of the Child; children protection in armed conflict, Convention to Eliminate All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and women protection in armed conflict.
This course constitutes a component of Enhancing Freedom of Movement, Expression, and Creating Organizations Project, implemented by Al Mezan in the framework of cooperation with Oxfam.
