On Sunday, 27 November 2011, Sama News Agency was broken into and equipment and money stolen.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights calls on the concerned authorities to initiate an investigation, make public the results of the investigation, and to bring perpetrators to justice.
According to information available to Al Mezan, at approximately 09:30 on Sunday, 27 November 2011, Sama News Agency staff entered their office and found the door already unlocked, seemingly by special tools as it was not broken or damaged.
Staff found that a Canon digital camera with zoom lens, a Nikon camera, a kit bag, and US$15,000 had all been stolen from inside the office.
The Sama News Agency is on the third floor at the Al Andalus building opposite Ash-Shorouq tower in Gaza city.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights expresses its solidarity with Sama News Agency.
It also condemns the assault and calls on the concerned authorities to open an investigation, disclose the results of the investigation, and to bring perpetrators to justice.
