At approximately 11:30pm on Saturday 25 June 2011, a big explosion occurred near the western wall of the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO), west of Gaza city.
As a result, Bahaa' Ad-Din Hesham Mohamed Ali Attallah, 18, sustained a light injury while he was walking in the street near the Office.
Part of the Office wall was destroyed.
Moreover, windows panes of the Zaid Ibn Haritha mosque were damaged and three adjacent houses were partially damaged.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights strongly condemns this explosion.
Al Mezan views this incident with much concern as it hampers the security of citizens’ and their property.
Al Mezan calls on the Gaza Government to initiate an investigation into the incident as well as into similar previous incidents and to take the necessary procedures against any persons who are proved to be involved in violating the law.
Al Mezan asserts the importance of disclosing the results to enhance the rule of law and security situation in the Gaza Strip.
