Short Link:
The state of insecurity in Palestinian society is ongoing, manifesting itself in the killing one citizen, the injuring of three others and damage to private property and public facilities in numerous areas of the Gaza Strip.
In Jabalia, a group of armed persons opened fire at Jabalia police station and others stormed Al Quds Open University in Khan Younis.
According to Al Mezan fieldworkers, at approximately 4:45pm on February 27th a group of armed persons opened fire at Jabalia police station located in the middle of Jabalia Camp after the police arrest of an individual; no casualties were reported.
At approximately 11am on February 28th, Rezeq Said Felfel, 32, was killed and three people injured following a family feud in Al Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.
On the same day at approximately 9am, a group of armed persons broke into Al Quds Open University in Al Qarara area in northern Khan Younis.
They blocked the central gate, evacuated students from the building and distributed bulletins objecting decisions made by the university administration.
Students remained in the outside courtyard for almost one hour and classes were suspended until further notice.
Al Mezan hereby expresses its profound sorrow and regret upon the loss of citizens and the damaging of public facilities in Gaza districts; it also condemns the PNA inability to undertake effective procedures to improve the situation.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights thus calls upon the PNA to immediately take practical steps to put an end to the state of insecurity, impose the law throughout the Gaza Strip, and prevent frequent attacks on public facilities and personal property.
Further, The PNA must exterminate all forms of non- official arms on the Palestinian street to ensure security and stability.
