Armed clashes between Fateh and Hamas, with the participation of extended families, have continued over the past three days.
Seventeen Palestinians have been killed and dozens injured.
An atmosphere of tension and fear prevails in Gaza as clashes have escalated.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights notes that this wave of infighting coincided with the start of the final exams for the general secondary school (Tawjihi), which is the most important school exam.
Some 60,000 Tawjihi students therefore face difficulties.
While Al Mezan appreciates the complexity of the arrangements undertaken by the Ministry of Education to prepare for these exams, it asserts that these exams must nevertheless be postponed in the Gaza Strip.
According to the monitoring of the conditions by the Center, there is reason to fear for the lives of the students and teachers given the continuity and scale of the armed clashes.
Furthermore, the work of the exam committees is not expected to work at a normal capacity in this environment.
Such a decision will also ensure consideration for the physical and psychological wellbeing of the students at such a stressful time.
The current atmosphere, characterised by constant exchanges of fire and explosions, undermines students' concentration and their ability to prepare for the exam.
The Center therefore calls upon the Ministry of Education to postpone the Tawjihi exams until the situation improves.
