At approximately 6pm on Monday, 30 July 2007, the corpse of 43-year-old Ismail Salama Suleiman Al Mishwakhi was found inside the former Israeli settlement Atsmona, in the outskirts of Rafah.
People who found the corpse reported to the Executive Force.
The body was transported to An Najjar Hospital in the town.
Ismail’s wife told Al Mezan that he left his house at approximately 10.
40pm on Sunday, 29 July 2007 with a friend.
He did not return home.
Trying to call him, his wife found his mobile off.
Since then, she lost track of him.
A pathologist who examined his corpse at Shifa Hospital morgue in Gaza City reported that bruises were clearly seen on his hands and lower legs and in different parts of his body.
He also reported the occurrence of bleeding in the mouth and the nose.
Many signs indicating that the victim was brutally beaten on the head were found.
There is credible evidence that the victim was subjected to torture before he was killed.
The conditions surrounding the murder are not yet clear.
Al Mezan calls for a prompt investigation into this crime to unveil the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
In addition, Al Mezan calls for making public the information on the progress and results of investigations related to such crimes.
