At 3pm on Friday, 22 June 2018, Israeli forces located on the fence between east Gaza city and Israel used live ammunition, plastic-coated steel bullets, and tear-gas canisters against tens of Palestinians who joined the Great Return March demonstration organized near the fence. 34 demonstrators were injured, including five children, three women, and a journalist. 21 of them were wounded by live fire and its shrapnel. Doctors at Al Shifa Hospital said the casualties ranged in severity from light to moderate. Israeli shooting continued until 7:30pm.
