Five Protesters Injured in Israeli Shooting in North Gaza

At 2:00pm on Friday, 9 March 2018, Israeli forces located on the northern borders of Jabalia refugee camp, of Beit Hanoun city, and of Beit Lahia city, in North Gaza governorate opened fire and tear-gassed protesters joining popular demonstrations. Called for by various Palestinian factions, the demonstrations were held in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Israeli soldiers opened fire and launched tear-gas canisters at protesters, causing the injury of five protesters, including one child. Doctors at the Indonesia Hospital reported the five casualties ranged from moderate to serious; three were injured by bullets in different parts of their bodies while the other two by a tear-gas canisters. Other protesters affected by tear-gas were treated in the field. Confrontations continued until the evening of the same day.
