At 2:00pm on Friday, 2 March 2018, Israeli forces located on the northern borders of Jabalia refugee camp, of Beit Hanoun city, and of Beit Lahia city, in North Gaza governorate opened fire and tear-gassed protesters joining popular demonstrations. Called for by various Palestinian factions, the demonstrations were held in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Israeli soldiers opened fire and launched tear-gas canisters at protesters, causing the injury of six protesters, including one child. Doctors at the Indonesia Hospital reported the six casualties ranged from moderate to serious; five were injured by bullets in different parts of their bodies while the sixth by a tear-gas canister that hit his chest. Other protesters affected by tear-gas were treated in the field. Confrontations continued until the evening of the same day.
