At 8:30am on 24 February 2018, Israeli naval forces opened fire at Palestinian fishermen who were sailing off the coast of Al Waha area in western Beit Lahia city in North Gaza governorate. The navy boat surrounded a Palestinian fishing boat, detained the two fishermen onboard, and confiscated their boat. The incident happened while the fishermen sailed near the northern borders and at a distance of three nautical miles away from Beit Lahia’s beach. The two fishermen detainees are: Omar Fayez, 28, and Mohammed Adnan Kabaja, 28, both residents of Al Shati refugee camp in Gaza city. The two fishermen were released on the same day at 6:30pm.
