At 14:00 on Friday, 2 February 2018, Israeli forces located on the southeastern borders of Burij refugee camp in the Middle Area governorate tear-gassed and opened fire at tens of protesters who marched in protest of the latest U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Through the demonstration, protesters set tires on fire and threw stones at the Israeli forces, which responded by firing tear-gas bombs. Ayman Monir Shubair, 17, was heavily affected by tear gas and was thus taken to Shuhada Al Aqsa hospital in Dair Al Balah to receive treatment. Four other similar cases were treated on the field. Confrontations continued until 18:30 of the same day.
