At 01:00 pm on Friday, 2 February 2018, Israeli forces opened fire and fired tear gas canisters at tens of young Palestinian men and children who were protesting near the northeastern borders, to the east of Al Shuhada cemetery in eastern Jabalia refugee camp and to the north of Beit Lahia. Palestinian factions called for a demonstration in protest of the latest US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Nine persons were injured in the clashes. Medical staff in the Indonesian Hospital reported that their injuries ranged from moderate to serious. According to Al Mezan’s monitoring, eight persons sustained gunshots and one was hit by a rubber bullet. Some of wounded protesters were treated in the field. Clashes continued until evening hours on the same day.
