Short Link:
At approximately 6:30 am on Thursday, 25 August 2016, Israeli gunboats opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats which were in the Gaza sea of Al Waha area, west of Beit Lahiya in North Gaza district and arrested one fisherman. According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, Israeli gunboats surrounded one boat and opened fire toward it. The Palestinian boat was about 2,000 meters away from the illuminated buoys demarcating the permitted fishing line to the north.
As a result, the boat sustained bullets in the body and engine. The owner of the boat Abdel Aziz Faried Sa’adaalh, 24, sustained rubber-coated bullet wound in different parts of his body. The Israeli forces ordered him to take off his clothes and to swim towards the Israeli boat. The Israeli soldier arrested the fisherman and lift Mohammed Mohammed Sa’adaalah, 66, who was on board. Fishermen who were in the area abandoned their work for the day, and sailed back to the shore immediately, a reflection of menace associated with the Israeli presence.
