At approximately 2:00 am on Monday, 20 June 2016, Malak Ra’ed Mahmoud Ghaben, 12, sustained a bullet wound in her chest while she was sleeping in her house that is located in Al Imam Ali street, northeast of Rafah. The child was admitted to Abu Youssif Al Najjar Hospital in Rafah and was then referred to the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Younis. Medial sources there described her injury as critical. According to the police, there was a sound of explosions and shooting fire heard in Egyptian Rafah at the time when the child was injured.
