Hussein, 7 years old from the neighborhood of Al Beshara in Deir Al Balah in the middle of the Gaza Strip, liked having his friends over and sharing his toys with them. He loved playing and watching TV. He helped his mother all the time, especially when the power was cut off. Hussein had a twin sister named Mona. “Hussein and Mona came after 14 years of marriage. We were waiting for them to come. We were overjoyed to receive twin babies after 14 years of waiting,” said his father.
At 1:30 pm on 23 August 2014, a house adjacent to Hussein’s was bombarded by Israeli forces. There was no warning. The two houses were completely destroyed. Three people were immediately killed in the attack, including Hussein. His mother Nisreen was also killed in the attack at the age of 38.
