FRONT PAGE An article on Wednesday about conflicting assessments of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip from the monthlong war between Hamas and Israel referred imprecisely to the activity on Tuesday evening at the office of Al Mezan Center for Human Rights, one of the Gaza-based groups conducting a count.
While Samir Zaqout, an official of the center, and his aides were updating handwritten logs, they were not “issuing small corrections to earlier news releases.
” (Earlier, Mr.
Zaqout said, he had made a small correction to one news release.
